Clock in taskbar - gone, cannot re-enable! WinXP Pro SP2

Has anyone lost the clock in the task bar with Win XP Pro SP2? The option to
display it (in task bar properties) is also greyed out. What causes this?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hmm... Try Kelly's site:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Line 134 on the right, try the undo .reg file and see if that works.

Galen,

Thanks very much for this, I now have the clock and tick box(in properties)
back. What's worrying is what set it to this state in the first place!

Thanks again,

PJ.

Had you been playing with registry cleaners or tweaking applications? That's
usually what causes this. <g>

No, I don't use registry cleaners, as I very rarely install/un-install apps.
I use the PC as a tool for video and mapping, so have just carefully chosen
software loaded.

As to tweaking stuff, no, the only thing I did recently was load AVG, as I
started to recieve viruses and spam for the first time ever... yes!!! first
time ever as I have been fairly careful with my email addresses in the past.

I have had some problems with "malware" recently which has altered registry
settings, so many that I re-loaded XP and loaded a copy of Adaware to check
where the problem was coming from. I have now disabled Java and Javascript
in my browser to try and stop the problem.

The site you recommended is excellent, I have seen solutions to problems
that other people have asked me about in the past. I'll definitely check
there first in the future.

Thanks again.

That would be Kelly's, one of the MVPs, site. It's full of valuable
information though I suppose it could use a better search feature. If you do
have a need to search it then this would be the link:
