clipping

when i download a video from a sony 730trv camcorder to my harddrive it clips the sound and visual at times. the video plays good on the tv.

Is this capture of digital footage via firewire or analog footage via some
analog hardware device?

Are you giving almost exclusive use of the PC to the capture process? Or
are you still running multiple programs/applications in the background?

i am downloading direct from the camcorder to a file in the harddrive. i find that i do have about 28 programs running in the background. could that be the solution? i thank you for the response and appreciate the help doc

As little as possible running. Disable antivirus (TEMPORARILY), shut down
stuff like Seti at Home, Outlook, Outlook Express etc etc.... once the
capture process has started MOVE AWAY FROM THE PC!!!!!!!!!! Do NOT surf,
play games etc etc etc.

Try and even disable such things as screensavers during the capture....

Make sure you defrag before a capture..... and ensure your PC is up to the
task of digital editing work.... I'd say at least a 1Ghz CPU and 512mb of
RAM... preferably more like a P4 2.0 Ghz with 1Gb of RAM.

I DID WHAT YOU SAID AND IT IS WORKING NOW. THANKS FOR THE ADVICE. I ONLY HAVE 500 MGZ ON THE PC, WITH 384 MEG OF RAM. IT LOOKS LIKE I MAY NEED TO MAKE A PURCHASE OF SOME KIND IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
