clipboard paste cause app install to launch

Hello All,

On my XP home laptop, a few days ago I noticed that when I try to paste
files from the clipboard, XP launches the installation of Roxio CD
Burner (Roxio came with the computer). I have to cancel the install
twice, then it does the paste. Roxio may just be an innocent bystander
to the real problem.

It only seems to happen when copying files (for example, if I
copy-paste between two drives using two MyComputer windows). It does
not happen if I copy-paste text between two NotePad windows.

The same launch-an-installation problem happens if I drag-drop the file
instead of copy-paste.

Any ideas?

This problem is likely related to a friend's problem of XP trying to
launch an install whenever the C:\ directory is dblclicked (to open it)
in MyComputer.

Hmm this sounds somewhat similar to a problem I had. It may be the same one.
There is a registry bug when messing with the file of folder type files.

Thanks for the reply. That is the kind of thing I expected the problem
to be, but I tried the MS doc fixes with no luck.

Anyone else know of auto-actions similar to this?
