Clipboard not enabled

When I highlight text and right click on the mouse to copy the text to the
clipboard, nothing happens. I cannot copy and paste the text using the mouse.
Is there some way to enable the clipboard function? Also can you suggest any
repair sites such as "hijack this" that might be useful to detect spyware or
tuneup the computer in case there is some malware that might have disabled
this function? One last issue relates to Windows Defender. Only two buttons
are present in the Software Explorer area. There should be three, enable,
disable, and remove. There is no way to remove selected programs. Downloading
a fresh copy of the program didn't seem to help. Thank you very much.

Regarding Windows Defender, it is necessary to uninstall completely the
corrupt program before reinstalling a clean copy. An attempt to install
WinDef over a corrupt copy does not work. Now WinDef works normally.

Regarding the mouse, replacing the mouse fixed the problem of an inactive
right click function. It was a hardware problem.
