Is there a way to configure the clipboard to always paste text as text
without formatting? The default is HTML which always results in formatting
problems in the documents and spreadsheets receiving the paste. I would
prefer not to have to do the Paste Special and select Text option using
multiple mouse movements and clicks.

Never use the mouse for functions which can be done a million times faster
via the keyboard. In Excel, for instance, ALT-E, S, T. Elapsed time: About 1
second.

Programs that copy or cut text to the clipboard generally do so in a
variety of formats. Programs that paste text from the clipboard by
default take the format that has the most detail that they can handle.

So MS Word would copy a selection in plain text, RTF, and Word formats
(maybe others). A text editor would (probably) take the text version,
an email client (maybe) the RTF version, and Work itself would use the
Word version.

If your app has a "Paste Special" command, that's how you get to the
non-default formats. If you don't like the menu structure, check the
manual or help system for keyboard equivalents.
