Clipart file locations

Having recently purchased Word 2007 (in the Professional Suite), I set the
default file location for clipart pictures to a folder in my hard drive.
Understandably, and unfortunately, when trying to insert a photo into a word
document, Word always goes to that location.

Problem is, I need to work with photos in, literally, dozens of file
locations, often within the same document. Sometimes, I will need several
from one file location, and then several from another. What I would like to
do is be able to have Word default to the last used file location, rather
than a specific file which has been entered in the advanced options menu. I
think this would be possible if I could simply delete the entry which I
entered in file locations, but when attempting to do so, word requires that I
enter another file location. It won't let me leave the file location field
blank.

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps someone else can direct you to the exact Registry key, but the
Registry is the solution: you have to delete the key that specifies the Clip
Art location.

Go to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options
and, assuming the PICTURE-PATH entry contains the clip-art location shown in
Word's dialog, delete that entry (not the whole key).
