I have a problem, the client computer cannot connect to the internet.
this could be because the host is connected to the modem via usb and the
client doesnt know to look at the usb device to see the internet.

CLIENT<crossover cable ethernet>HOST<usb connection>CABLE MODEM

LAN works as normal, but the client wants to access the internet using the
hosts local area network connection..which is used for lan.

should i just buy a new lan card to use for the modem or is there a way that
usb usage can be shared?

thanks in advance for any advice!

phil

I would recommend buying an inexpensive router to connect to the cable modem
and the two computers. Much easier to administer, much easier to configure,
and you don't need to buy a second network card and hassle with getting ICS
working.

Enable Internet Connection Sharing on the host's USB modem connection.

The client doesn't know, and doesn't need to know, that the host has a
USB modem connection. The client gets its Internet access via the
Ethernet network.
