Client login over VPN

I have a client workstation (Win2000) connecting to an
office network using a PPTP VPN (Win 2000). When I try
to login from the client workstation over the VPN, my
workstation connects, is authenticated and then is
registered on the network. However, I can;t login. I get
the following error message: "The system cannot log you
on due to the following error: RPC server is unavailable."

Any help would be appreciated.
 
Do you have all of the latest updates from Windows Update?

Yes - all updates are current.
