I have Win XP Home SP2 IE 6.0.2900.2180 SP2 040803 2158. Source is not
working. It opens the dos window, something appears on dos screen but too
fast to catch then closes. How can I fix this?

I may have erroneously posted the IE repair in your case.

However, the command line "iexplore /rereg" (no quotes) should be
run from a Run > Dialog Box. This is supposed to re-register all DLL
files in IE (Service Pack2) without having to resort to a "Repair Reinstallation"
of your operating system.

I will have more details for you by the end of the weekend.

Just some addtl info: When I try to run sfc /scannow, I get "RPC Server
unavailable". I have done numerous searches and can not find info that will
apply. I am WinXP Home SP2 and IE6. I run Spybot, Adaware, cwshredder,
hijackthis on regular basis. I am also consistently getting error re:
Windows File Protection and required files of Windows need to be copied to
the DLL Cache. It prompts me to insert WinXP CD-ROM. When I do, it says
wrong version. I can not get rid of this.

You seem to have numerous *unrecoverable* issues, consider an in-place
reinstallation
of Windows XP. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315341
