Clicking on folders in MY DOC causes SEARCH RESULTS to open NOT fo

When I click on MY DOCUMENTS, the window that pops shows all the files I have
in there. Just as it is supposed to. But when I then click on any of the
folders there, such as MY PICTURES or MUSIC, etc. there is a problem.
Instead of opening up the folder, the "Search Results" window, opens complete
with that d-mn animated dog. It's the same window you get when you click on
Search with the magnifying glass icon.
The same thing happens if I click on START and then on MY PICTURES, etc.
The window that is opened up is the search results one. I don't know what I
did to cause this. I have Gateway laptop w Windows XP. PLEASE ADVISE HOW TO
FIX.
Thanks

Search opens after editing Drives or Directories

Type in Start Run

regsvr32 /i shell32

This occurs when you use the File Types dialog to edit Drives or
Directories. You need to type the above each time you use that dialog to
edit those two types.
