Clearing unwanted files

Any downside to deleting the files in WINDOWS\SOFTWARE DOWNLOADS

and...

those large files with long-numbered names that appear first in line
under c:\windows - with a BAK or CDF extension? And similarly, those
numbered files with no extension that are at the head of the SYSTEM32
directory?

Thankfully I've got 72 GB of free space on my "C" drive, so I can let
that stuff be.
