I have my www/spamtrap email address deliberately configured so that it can
receive emails, but it can't send. This prevents me accidentally validating
the address to spammers. This works the way that I want it to.

The only minor niggle that I have with it is that every once in a while when
I click on send and receive it tells me that it is trying to send 7 emails
on that account (which obviously fail).

There's nothing in my outbox so has anyone got a suggestion as to how I can
either delete these phantom emails, and/or find out what they are without
actually sending them?

TIA

Ask spamtrap???

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Vargr asked:

Sorry, i didn't make myself clear I'm not using spamtrap software. I have an
email address that i use for posting in news groups or leaving on web page
sign ups. I use this to trap spam so that my main email account remains spam
free. In outlook this account is configured with a valid POP address, but a
spurious SMTP address. Somehow outlook has gotten convinced that there are 7
emails that want to be sent on this account. They are not in the outbox, so
in outlook there appears to be no way of finding out what they are or
cancelling them.

TIA - again :-)

Hi, Vargr;
If I might jump in here...
I don't know how you would find your phantom e-mails (have you deleted all
the e-mails that came in on that account?). But, at Tools> Send/Receive>
Send/Receive Settings> Define Send/Receive Groups> Edit, have you unchecked
"Send mail items" from that account?
Regards,
Ian.

Thank you! They were Read Receipts as you suspected. *Grins* now to go back
to that web site and try to figure out what else outspy can do.
