Clearing the Auto Complete Cache

Marilyn

I would like to know how to clear the Cache from the
Automatic Name checking feature in Outlook. I updated the
email address from one of my contacts, however, every time
I type in the name of my contact the old email address is
filled in and not the new one. How do we clear the Cache?

Highlight the name by using the arow keys when the list pops-up and press
DELETE.

To completely clear the cache rename the *.nk2-file for your profile to
*.old

Thank you for the quick response guys, however, I've tried
deleting the name once it comes up and it's not deleted
from the cache. I will try the previous suggestion and
see if it works.

I tried looking for the nk2 file and the search results
found nothing. Do you know the path of this file? I
would like to find it so that I may try your suggestion.

It is in a hidden directory. Make sure if using Windows 2000/XP that you
configure Windows Explorer to show you all hidden/system files. (XP will
require to configure the search to look for hidden/system files.) In any
event, you should find the nk2 under:

\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Once again thank you for the quick response. I followed
your advice and the only file that matches to nk2 was a
file called Microsoft Exchange Server. Is this the file
that I want to rename to clear the Cache?
Again thank you,
