clearing history

the history column won't clear automatically anymore. i
have it set on zero so it should clear every day. it
stopped doing it. also if i try to clear it manually by
going to tools and internet options, it won't do it all
the time.
 
With no IE windows open, try it from Control Panel> Internet Options>
General> Clear History.

Or, you might need to delete the damaged History folder- a new one will be
created on restart.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder in Windows 9x,2K, XP.

Another program might be locking your history.

The ActiveX filter of McAfee (and possibly other) anti-virus programs can
interfere with the history function of IE. Just disable the ActiveX filter.
