Clear History

when attempting to Clear History (start/settings/taskbar/advanced/) the
hourglass just hangs there indefinately. the process of clearing the history
does not show-up in the Taskmanager/Applications window, so the only option
to close the Clear History window at that point is to reboot. when the
machine reboots, the history is cleared. but any advice on how to avoid the
hanging hourglass and the need to reboot would be greatly appreciated. tia
....
 
p.s. its not the Internet/Clear History but the clear option from
start/settings/taskbar/customize/clear.
