Clear DNS Cache

Quick question... while trying to do a repair on network adapters the
process gets as far as clearing the DNS Cache then stops with error message
about seeing the person who manages the network. Unfortunately that's me on
my single stand-alone computer!

Tried using the method from command prompt mentioned in Help with netsh but
eventhough it appear to run properly the error remains. Is there another
method to clear the DNS cache that might work. Fortunately the
connection(s) bridged work just fine so the problem isn't immediate.

Standard commands are *ipconfig /flushdns* and *ipconfig /registerdns*.
Plain reboot clears the DNS cache as well.

Try to break a bridge first then hit Repair button. If you frequently need
to "repair" the network connections, you should fix malware and winsocks
first (there is an important distinction between curing and healing).

Thanks for the response but I know of these commands and have tried them.
Have also done many reboots!! What I am looking for is a MANUAL and
EFFECTIVE method to clear the DNS cache.

None of the "automatic" methods are working to include netsh or ipconfig
from the command prompt. All I get is "Could not flush the DNS Resolver
Cache: Function failed during execution." Not real helpful if you know what
I mean...

Len,

As I've said already you should check a malware, maybe fix winsocks, and
maybe reinstall TCP/IP.

The latest versions of Adware and Spybot are quite good. You can easily get
them at www.download.com.

Found the problem... as usual the operator. Had previously gone through
services and turned some off and switched others to manual. One of the ones
set to manual was the DNS client! Soon as I started that service repair ran
through its automatic thing without issue.

Do not use repair often, just swapped out cable modems (the old one died)
also upgrading to DOCSIS 2 compliant and initially had some problems. Now
they have been corrected with other methods but the hang-up on the clearing
DNS bugged me. The connection was actually working fine at that point.
