Hello all,

Last night when I went to download and install the latest 10 criticial XP
and Office updates, my internet connection got weird right as the website
was about to initiate the install phase of the updates. All 10 were
downloaded successfully (I think). However for the last day and half now,
everytime I try to go back to the website and initiate the install, it says
the installed failed and all 10 updates were not installed. I've tried this
repeatedly and each time the install fails on all updates.

I am wondering if somehow the updates got corrupted when they were
downloaded. How would I go about cleaning out these temporarily stored
updates from my PC so it forces the website to redownload them?

Thanks!

Bradley W.

The contents of your DataStore folder may be the problem.

1. Delete the contents of the DataStore folder.
2. Click Start.
3. Choose Run.
4. In the Run box, type: %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
5. Click OK.
6. Open the DataStore folder.
7. Delete all contents of the DataStore folder.
8. Close the window.
9. Reboot and revisit the Windows Update web site.

Thank you very much for that information. I followed the instructions
however, upon rebooting and reaccessing the windows update site, the updates
still would not install. They were downloaded, but indicated they failed to
install.

I had the same problem, but patience and persistence were the key to my
eventual success. :)
