Clean up your computer by deleting .EXE files

"Try to delete as many large files as you can. If you are unsure about
deleting a file, looking at the "Date Modified" field to see the last time
you used that file may help you decide.

"The same thing goes for .exe files, which are the files you download to
install a program. Once you have a program installed, there's no need to
hang on to the .exe file that you used to install it."

"Another piece of clutter that you can remove are installer .exe files used
to install programs from the Internet such as iTunes or Firefox . Once you
have downloaded the installer .exe and you've installed the program, there's
no need to hang on to that file."

Still a hazardous bit of advice.

Indeed it is. I have a folder (also backed up onto flash drive) that is
nothing but the installation .exe files for programs I've downloaded.
That folder has saved my butt on several occasions.

And, folks should know that if the name of the file doesn't necessarily resemble
the actual name of the program, it can be changed when saving, as long as it
retains the extension .exe. Many downloaded programs have cryptic names that
mean nothing a few days or months from now.

Same here. Once I've determined I wanna keep some download, the installer
EXE gets added to my regular backup set. Sites might be down the moment you
need access to the file, links get broken, you might not have internet
access for any number of reasons, etc. If there's one thing I hate doing,
it's re-downloading something I've already downloaded.

And this guy suggests people *delete* those files...
