Clean re-install

I am trying, so far three failures) to re-install XP home.
The puter is not booting from the xp disc and installing
via my computer has resulted in the 10 gig of partition
used being kept. I want a totally clean install. The
knowledge article search is throowing up nothing probably
because I dont talk puter lingo....
Any ideas?

Make sure your BIOS is set to attempt to boot from CD before it tries the hard drive.
If this fails, then you have the same problem i recently had with my HP Compaq nx7000.
It refused to boot from the XP Pro CD. It turned out that the version of the XP CD that was
shipped with the computer was defective. HP had released a revised version of the CD which
they overnight mailed to me. It now boots properly. Check the website of the manufacturer
of your computer for any customer advisories.
