Clean load of Win 2000

I

Ian Stock

For reasons I won't get into here, I have wiped out my hard drive,
partitioned and reformatted. (I am using an old Toshiba Satellite 2500CDS
laptop).

I can get the DOS prompt and I have the original Win2000 Professional CD. I
have CD support (or at least I can access the CD thru DOA, but I can't get
the CD to the Win2000 install. I have tried the bootdisk from makeboot, but
these disks stall at disk 1.
Can anyone guide me through a clean load with a reformatted HD and original
Win2000 CD?

Thanks,

Ian

- Log on to your CD drive.
- cd \i386
- winnt

Note that this procedure will only work if your system
drive is FAT or FAT32. If it is NTFS then you must
boot from the Win2000 CD.

Hi Ian,

Some of the Toshiba's don't boot. If that is the case, go to www.bootdisk.com and get the 4 diskette bootdisk set. Use 4 formatted diskettes that are formatted with an NT box, and make sure the do not have bad sectors. It will boot just fine and after loading all of the files off the boot diskettes, you will be asked to insert your Installation CD in the drive and remove the last diskette.

The install is pretty straight forward.
