I have one question before I take the plunge and install XP.
I intend to do a clean install as I want to flush out everything on
my C drive.
My question is.... Does Home XP format the C drive or should I -
FDisk and Format C first?
I have checked and I can boot from the CD.
Thanks in anticipation.

The cd has all the tools for partitioning and formatting, just boot to the
cd and go. (backup personal stuff first)

You can do everything booting from the CD.

Might want to consider first doing an upgrade install after prepping for the
clean install. XP upgrade installs are very much improved from previous
versions and will give you the opportunity to return to the previous OS if
you have hardware or software conflicts or incompatibilities.

You do it as part of the Setup of the system after booting the XP CD
direct. Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install.
When it asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the
current partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next
stage. That way you can get an NTFS file system, which is usually
preferred, and certainly if the partition is over 32GB (when you will
not get the option)
