Clean Install XP SP2

Hi,

I need to install a new hard drive in my system and will be installing XP
SP2 via a slipstreamed cd. Is it ok to have my cable modem connected while
I'm installing the OS or should I disconnect it? If I leave it connected,
am I susceptible to a virus via the network while installing the OS?

Disconnect everything external other than the screen, keyboard and mouse..
