clean install windows xp

[Its killing me]

i would like to do a clean install of windows xp. i have tried an
thought i was reasonably successful only to find i have really onl
installed a 2nd copy!! not getting rid of any of the origina
problems!!
i think i need help so as the computer will boot from the CD??? som
VERY BASIC instructions...
the actual installation i seem to be ok with - just not getting rid o
all the stuff to start with

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
