I upgraded to vista home premium from xp mce 2005 and made the mistake of
entering the validation key.
The upgrade was very buggy, so i decided to do a clean install of vista.
Now, whenever i try to validate it, it says my validation key is being used.

What should i do?
many thanks

Call the toll free number.

Seriously though, of course it's in use, by you.

I myself would think that there should be no problem, as the process should
generate the same hardware ID's as previously generated, and the validation
server should see that info is the same as before, and it should go since
it would be obvious it was the same hardware.

Activate by telephone.
The wizard will give you the right number

Where can i find the toll free number?
It is awfully odd to require a new activation key.
Many thanks all!

You should have been offered the opportunity to activate via telephone
(with the pertinent phone displayed on screen) when the Internet
activation failed. However:

Not really, if it's been less than 120 days since you last activated.
