I would like to do a clean install and received excellent instructions from
Carey Frisch on how to do this. Unfortunately, due to serious virus
infections, I cannot access the Internet and follow the links Carey gave me
regarding bios access, clean install instructions, etc. I do not know how to
access the bios , so could someone please provide instructions in a reply
here? Also, can I return to Windows 98 during the clean install process?
Thanks in advance for the time it may take you to help me.

Accessing your motherboards bios varies by manufacturer. Typically a prompt
with come up very early in the boot process, something like "to enter setup
depress the del key", typical keys besides the del key would be esc, f1, f2,
f10, etc.
I'm a little concerned about your question about returning to Windows 98
during a clean install because a clean install would involve wiping your
hard drive clean of any operating system by formatting it, so obviously
there is nothing left of the 98 OS. You need to make sure you understand
this process and have any data you want to retain backed up.
My advice would be to pick up a 2nd hard drive, install it as your master
disk and install XP on it. You could then install your old 98 disk as the
slave with no fear of loosing any data. Disk drives are cheap.

You cannot do anything while XP setup is running.
Click on the link below, or copy and paste the link into the address box
