Clean boot

Hi;

Please help urgently.
All the icons and taskbar in my desktop has disappeared. However,I managed
to see the desktop icons when I logged in to the safe mode.

I've gone through an article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353 which
guide us to perform the clean boot, but I got the following error message
when I run the Guided Help program provided in this web site:

Erroe Message shows as:

The task was not completed because a feature that Guided help needed was not
installed/unavailable

As a result of that, I tried to do manual clean boot, but since i can't even
see my taskbar and start button, I'm stuck and I don't know how to perform
the clean boot manually, as according to the steps given, I need to click on
the start and run button before I could continue with the steps.

Can anyone help me on this? Thanks a million

These is litttle you could do after a 'clean boot' that 'safe mode' would not
accomplish for you. Success at safe mode implies that the loading of some
driver for some device is causing your trouble on the desktop. Open Device
Manager, and disable the unnecessary devices you might be using, and see if
it helps. Especially anything you put in lately.
start/run, type: devmgmt.msc

If you cannot run regedit, I doubt trying to run a *.reg file to correct that
would work either. If you care to try it, this site has several to correct
access to msconfig.
Renaming msconfig, task manager, and other utilities see line 35 -- :

You probably have some virus which replaced those files.

Hi;

Thx for your reply.
But, I got the following error when i open msconfig.exe from the task manager.

Windows cannot find C:\Windows.......msconfig.exe.

Thus, I'm not be able to run the clean boot at all.

You couldn't. You seem to have a virus or spyware that replaced your
regedit. See your other thread.
