Clawhammer 2800+ question

Hello. I bought AMD64 2800+ (754) Boxed CPU in Fry's Electronics. According
the price tag label it should have 1MB L2 cache. When I ran CPUID it showed
512KB L2 Clawhammer 1.8GHz. I thought that 754pins Clawhammers should only
come with 1MB cache. Is it some kind of low grade reject they sold me on
sale? What is the difference Clawhammer Newcastle? Newcastle and Winchester
different in die size and Vince added SSE3 support.

the 2800 is only 512 cache. It may be a clawhammer with a failed 1M
cache, or it maybe a newcastle. I've got several ID programs that
identify my chip different ways

Best bet is to write down the label info on the chip and look it up on
the web.

Good chip though, will usually overclock well in a DFI nforce3
lanparty.

Both the Clawhammer and Newcastle socket 754 desktop 2800+ processors
have only 512KB L2 cache, but there are socket 754 mobile 2800+
processors with 1MB L2 cache.

My 2800+, 754 clawhammer has 512 cache. Runs very nicely at 2250mhz.

Hi, actually AMD left it off the list, right from www.amd.com
