citation not formatting correctly

There is a bug in the insert citation. The citation gets inserted fine. But
it will not obey the option which has checksk to "supress" author, title,
date. (This should not have been designed as a supresss but rather an include
but that's another issue). Anyway the citation will disiplay the date and
author but it will not display the title.

What style are you using, that you want the title to be displayed?
(It's infuriating that when in Chicago style, if there's more than one
item by the same author, it shows the title and it has to be
suppressed every time.)

I've tried with apa, mla and chicago. Cannot get title, author AND date to
all display. I've used a work around which is to put two citations in and
supress on the first or second one so that I can get author, date and title.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your problem and if that's the case, just
ignore my message.

I'm guessing you want to use a footnote based style where all fields
are given for a citation by default instead of an in-text citation
which is normally limited to an author-date string or a numeric value.
Unlike its successor, Word 2007 does not come which such a style.
There are a couple of things you can do to solve this:

1)If you are fluent in xml/xslt, you can create such a style yourself;
2)You could get the Word 2008 styles and try them in Word 2007 (note
that you would have to make a few subtle but important changes);
3)You could try one of the styles I made. They are still pretty basic,
but they might help you a bit along the way:

Yes, thank you that is what I want to do. Word implies that you can have
title, date and author show by not checking suppress but in fact it will not
show all three fields inh the footnote citation.

That's because in the styles you named, it's incorrect to have the
title showing in a citation; there shouldn't even be a default for for
the title to show when an author has more than one item in the
bibliography.. As Yves has pointed out, Word does not accommodate
references as footnotes.

Not really, what Word 2007 implies is that IF they are shown, you can
use those options to suppress them. There is no requirement to show
them in the first place.

The decision to actually show them by default is left to the creator
of the style. You can hardly expect someone using a numerical style to
suppress author, title, and year for every citation in their text. So
for such styles, only the number is displayed by default, and the
suppress option becomes pointless.

Also, the decision on what suppress exactly implies is left to the
creator of the style. For example, if a source would have an editor
rather than an author, and you would select to suppress the author, it
is up to the style creator to decide if that means the editor should
not be displayed.
