Sorry to say, but you need to reinstall Windows. You seem to be missing
more than one parts of Windows XP. in DOS you should be able to type
"expand" and you should get
"Microsoft (R) File Expansion Utility Version 5.1.2600.0
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1990-1999. All rights reserved."

Try a repair install of Windows XP

How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install

Jose,

Before you re-install Windows, try the steps again, using this format:

Insert your XP CD in the CD-ROM. Open a Command Prompt Window (Start, Run
and enter CMD and click OK). Then enter:

EXPAND -R X:\i386\wordpad.ex_ "C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories"

Note: You need to change the X to the actual drive letter of your CD-ROM
drive. And the C: assumes that XP is installed on C:. And last but not
least, this will only work with a regular Windows XP CD, not an OEM recovery
CD.
