Choppy windows startup sound at start up

I was working on a Dell Dimension E520 the other day with 512mb RAM, celeron
3ghz, 160gb SATA with Vista home basic and it started up OK (after setting
up country, keyboard settings etc..) but the startup windows sound was all
choppy. Anyone know why that should be?

I remember that on PC's years ago when they didn't have lots of memory or a
slow hard disk or slow processor but I was surprised with this new DELL.

So in the end I disabled the startup sound in control panel altogether
rather than have it starting up choppy all the time.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Andy.

Its just the drivers as it came from the factory I presume, you have a point
there I should have looked on the DELL support website and see if there was
updated drivers - I doubt if they check just before it leaves the factory
that it has the most up to date drivers installed - although it would be
nice if they did.

The rest of the sounds on the PC were fine it was just this windows vista
startup sound that was choppy.
