Choppy dvd recording

I made a movie with video, still pics and music that plays ok on my computer
but it is choppy on my dvd player. When I burn at a slow speed on archive
quality discs it is fine (2X) but even at 4x on regular discs it is choppy.
It gets choppy in the same spots. I tried replacing my dvd burner, thinking
that was the problem but it still does it. It seems to get choppy at the
same spots, even when I have used two different programs to burn it to dvd.
I've checked and made sure that all my videos I used were .avi, and I do have
one jpg picture that it gets choppy during, but I've never had problems with
jpgs before. Can a scratched song from a cd put into a movie create
choppiness when it burns to disc? the final product plays fine on my
computer before I burn it to dvd, and even the dvd plays fine in my computer,
it is just on my dvd player it doesn't work. My dvd player can play other
dvds I have made in the past, but not the most recent ones.

Is there some sort of update or something I could do? I dont' even know if
it is a movie maker problem or some other problem. The fact that it kind of
gets choppy in the same place makes me think it happened in the wmm part of
the process. But some of the later dvds I made were kind of jerky the whole
way (the video was jerky, the music played OK).

I'm guessing the only suggestion anyone can give me is file type
compatibility, but I've checked into it and that isn't my problem.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh, can spyware and antivirus stuff mess up the burning or saving process?

Just wondering how you know file type
compatibility is not the issue?
