Choppy video - please help

Hi,

I'm new to movie maker and I'm using video from my hard drive camcorder. I
have two problems.

1) The first video I have made contains credits and several clips strung
into one movie. Problem is, when I watch it in movie maker, it's very choppy.
Sometimes the sound keeps going but the video doesn't keep up and then the
video will cut back to where it belongs and the problem starts again. Does
anyone know how to fix this or if this is just a PC issue and that the movie
will complete and then copy to disc correctly?

2) Since my cam is a hard drive cam, I frequently run out of space to
record. I then need to either A) copy the video onto the PC so I can edit and
mess with it or B) burn directly to a disc to free up space. I very quickly
run out of space on my PC hard drive for copying and messing with video.
Problem is, if I copy to DVD, it seems that I am unable to edit the movies
because Movie Maker doesn't allow me to pull from a DVD. Is there any fairly
simple way to use video from a DVD in Movie Maker. I read one of the posted
articles about .vob files, however I don't seem to have any .vob files on my
disc.

OK....the worst thing to do in EDITING..is to HURRY....this may have you USE
the slider bar while the PLAY-button is activated....to SCROLL the Screen
Viewer ahead really FAST....DON'T DO THAT....ever...!!!!!....you can ONLY
scroll the Viewer Ahead useing the SLIDER BAR while in a PAUSE or STOP
MODE.....its the same w/a CAMCORDER useing DV-tape....don't use
the[FF]---while in a PLAY/MODE....
--its havoc on the Digital Tape...and can affect the TAPE-Heads...most of my
problems were always EDITING problems...going too FAST.

It is possible that this is just a PC resources problem.
To find out for certain save the movie to your hard drive (Press CTRL+P to
open the Save Movie Wizard)
and play the finished movie in your Media Player to see how it plays.
Also it is important that you understand that WMM's preview mode is only a
320x200 rendering of the movie
and therefore will not be the final quality.
If you have a resource problem it shouldn't effect the final movie as WMM
will still render it properly, it will
simply take longer.

If you are only burning to DVD for archival purposes then all you need to do
is burn
the DVD as a "Data" DVD. This will give you a working video file that WMM
will
happily open for you.

Hi Wojo,

I was very excited to hear that I could make a data DVD and that MM would
read them. However, I've done that and I still can't seem to get MM to
recognize any of the files type that are there. Perhaps I've done it wrong.
Can you explain further?
