.chm help files

Though I'm suspicious that this is an
IE 7 or 8 issue, I'm not finding anything
at the IE Solution Center. As far as I
know, the problem only occurs on XP
SP3 systems where IE 8 is installed.

The problem is simply that when a
..chm help file is opened, while the TOC
tree appears and functions properly with
expansion choices, none of the pages
are shown. Rather, there's an informational
message (!):

"Navigation to the webpage was canceled"

The .chm file was compiled by the HTML
Help Workshop version 4.74.8702.0, which
is the latest version as far as I can tell.

The file functions normally on XP SP3
systems where the IE version remains at 6.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Bill

"Pete" posted exactly the same question in this forum less than 24 yours ago

Wouldn't you know I scanned for HTML
HELP problems!!

I attached a post to the other thread.

When searching for a text (e.g. when googling) then you won't get many hits
if your search criteria are too tight. Scanning for "help" or "chm" (which
are words in your own Subject line!) would have been more appropriate.

Go to Properties for the chm file. Look for a box to tick to "unblock"
the file. Tick it. I think you might find it works OK now.

HTH,

It did, thanks.
