My computer started running chkdsk on startup out of its own recently. In the
second phase..index checking ..it reaches100% complete and then says there is
not enough disk space to recover lost files. No files are shown and i am not
aware of any lost files. I have a 160 gig hard drive. my system has always
only reported my drive as 134 gigs. I have 100 gigs used and 33.3 gigsl
free. To compound this i cannot defrag as the defrag program keeps telling
me that it has detected that chkdsk is scheduled to run on (C) and requests
me to run Chdsk /f. once done i still get the above messages. Any help?
Running XP with SP2

Hi,

Start/run cmd, then from the prompt run 'chkntfs /d' to clear the dirty bit
that is prompting checkdisk to run.
