Chkdsk

When starting up my computer chkdsk runs and it says on a blue screen that it
is scanning all files to check for errors. Once it gets to 44% of files
checked my computer freezes and fails to start up, just stays stuck on the
blue screen. I can cancel out of the scan as long as I hit any key within 5
seconds of the scan starting. The thing is my computer never used to run
chkdsk, it just started and I don't know why. Really don't know much about
computers, only use it for the internet but I know my dad was on my computer
before this problem started so I don't know if he did something or not but he
is not admitting to it. Please help.

Try starting computer in the BIOS,install xp cd,select to boot to xp cd (boot
priority device,or similiar),at xp cd info screen select recovery,select 1
for C:
drive,press enter for password,then type:CHKDSK C: /R When its thru (10-15
min) type:EXIT Let xp start up.Once on desktop,go to run,type:cmd In cmd
type:CHKntfs /X C: This should end start up CHKDSK,you could also access
by tapping F8 on starting computer,select,safe mode with cmd promt.
