Hi
Been having a 'funny' problem today.
Computer re-boots when printing.
I ran chkdsk in safe mode which comes up with
Fparameter not specified
Running CHKDSK in read only mode.
I usually run this when I get problems and have bever noticed this
read only and parameter (error?) before.
The pc is running XP Pro and the printers a usb hewlet packard
deskjet930c

I have same problem. Read-only = no repairs as I understand it. I need
details on how to fix this.

TIA

Hi, Malvern - and Zaskar.

Open a "DOS" window. Type Chkdsk /? to get a list of all the switches
available with the Chkdsk command.

There are times when you WANT the Read-Only mode; sometimes you don't.

If you run chkdsk without an argument it will check in readonly
mode (won't fix anything). chkdsk /? will give the info.

Start > Run > chdksk /r

Read the note....chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use
by another process. Would you like to scedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts: <Y/N>

Thanks for that the disk check took about half hour, no problems reported
then when I got into windows about 6 messages came up saying the system
had recovered from a serious error ;-/
