Dan

Dell Inspiron 2600
Windows XP Home
1.06 GHz, 128 Mb
20 Gb hard drive

When I power-up, chkdsk runs automatically and produces
an "unexpected" error while performing stage 2, "verifying
indexes."

The subject file system is NTFS.

Following the error message, chkdsk aborts and everything
else seems normal. Windows loads up, as do applications.
No other sign of trouble. This has been going on for
months and it's ANNOYING!

I'd like to find out why chkdsk can't finish up. I'd also
like to find out how to avoid running it every time I boot
up.

THANKS!!!
Dan
