Computer was infected with a virus. McAfee Technician remotely removed the
virus. Now computer running extremly slow. Having problems starting in normal
mode. When I do, I try to run chkdsk but when I do, it gives me the
following: Warning! F parameter not specified. Any suggestions, thanks

if you have a
windows setup
cd,

you can boot with
it, select "repair"
then log into the
recovery console.

at the disk prompt
you can then run>:

chkdsk /p

then "exit", remove
cd and enjoy.

incidentally, depending
on what kind of an infection
was removed,

you may have to figure out
if you system may be left
with its parent folder that
canceled the infection

or do a "repair installation"
to replace missing or corrupted
system files on the computer
with genuine ones from the cd.

/p is better
and will include
what /f does.

I may have to go that route. Every time I enter that chkdsk/f in safe mode,
it will not open upon reboot. Thanks

yeah,

sometimes it has
to be ran at the
disk level.

however, you may
also have to uninstall
mc crapafee because
it may be inhibiting
that system command.

The message means you did not issue a /f switch command:
chkdsk X: /f
but you only entered chkdsk X:
where X is the drive letter. You might even have left off the X:, it's
still work on the drive you were on.

/f means to fix problems.

From a command prompt, chkdsk /? will show you all the switches and
possible uses.

Try these instead of a chkdsk:

Malwarebytes© Corporation

SuperAntispyware
