CHKDSK in GUI Will Not Run

B

BRF1945

I am unable to run Chkdsk on reboot, I get a error
message in the order of "Unable to gain exclusive access
to NTFS volume, Windows restarting"

Is there a command line tool & switch that will release
Chkdsk and enable it to run in GUI.

I was able to run Chkdsk in recovery console in both C:\
& C:\windows. (I actually picked up some disk space.)
Upon Reboot I still get the above message, then windows
reboots normally.

Anon,

Regarding CHKDSK not running in the GUI, this is
normal. The only way that it MAY run is if you boot into
safe mode, but, I wouldn't bet on that. I would guess
this prevents the loss of data if an error is found but
don't know for sure. Sorry.

Anon;
You seem to be a pool of incorrect information.
Open My computer right click on the C:\ drive go to
properties, then tools and see "check Disk'(it even gives
you the option to fix errors & correct bad sectors.)
I know it work because it runs on my other machine.
I am looking help not opinions!!!
