chkdsk found one or more errors

When I run CHKDSK /R from the Windows Recovery console, I get the
message "chkdsk found and fixed one or more errors on the volume".
If I run it again immediately after I do not receive that message.
However, if I log in and log off Windows without running starting any
apps, then run CHKDSK /R from the recovery console I receive that
message. Why???
My HD is a Seagate and I ran their disk diagnostic utility but it did
not find any problems with the drive.
Thanks

The /R switch to Chkdsk fixes a lot of things, including some
properly linked files. After running chkdsk for the first time,
defrag the hard drive. Re-run chkdsk without any switches. What
are the results? If damaged files are indicated, then the HD is
in the early stages of developing problems. Finally, as a general
rule, always back up important data, information, personal, etc.,
files, regardless of the physical condition of the HD.

I ran chkds /r on two other computers and the exact same same message
occurs. Also, the HD on my computer is brand new. The other two are
less than 6 months old.

OK, I just ran defrag and ran chkdsk from the recovery console and I
got the same message.

Are you asking what this means?

chkdsk found and fixed one or more errors on the volume

If you run chkdsk from Windows and reboot you can read what chkdsk in the
log.

For a look at the chkdsk log.

Open the Event Viewer...
Start | Run | Type: eventvwr | Click OK |
Look in Application | Listed as Information |
Event ID: 1001
Source: Winlogon
[[Description: This includes file system type; drive letter or GUID, and
volume name or serial number to help determine what volume Chkdsk ran
against. Also included is whether Chkdsk ran because a user scheduled it or
because the dirty bit was set.]]

[[When Autochk runs against a volume at boot time it records its output to a
file called Bootex.log in the root of the volume being checked. The Winlogon
service then moves the contents of each Bootex.log file to the Application
Event log.]]

[[This file states whether Chkdsk encountered any errors and, if so,
whether they were fixed.]]
