Chipset drivers stop network connection

Hi

I am installing W2K onto a Dell D410 using RIS. As part of the mini setup I
am installing several drivers. At the moment I am having problems with what
appears to be the chipset drivers for the D410. Without the drivers I get an
exclamation mark for next to PCI device under devices but the PC will
automatically connect to the Domina for me. With the drivers included as
part of the RIS process the machine will not add itself to the domain. It
tells me that the domain name is not valid. If I ignore this and carry on
the install the drivers take care of the device problem mentioned earlier.
The question is, why do I loose the abaility to connect to add the machine to
the domain when I am installing the chipset drivers during the mini setup ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I was having a similiar problem with D410's.

After RIS completed the machine was not in the domain but I knew RIS added
the machine to the domain because an account for the system was created in
AD.

What I found was that I had two versions of the NIC driver in my driver
search path so windows was reinstalling the driver after the machine had
already been added to the domain.

My issue was resolved by removing the older version from my driver search
path.
