CHECKING SYSTEM FOR LEGITIMATE WINDOWS INSTALL

We have received numerous email requests when we log in to allow it to check
the computer for a legitimate copy of Windows - to verify it was not a
pirated copy. I get the same thing on my computer at home, and both systems
are set for auto updates. Is this a legitimate request from Windows or what?

If the requests come via email: No, they are not legitimate.

You can always check on your own. Open any Windows Explorer window and
go to Help > Is this copy of Windows legal?

No. It's either a phishing scam or some form of malware. Delete the
e-mails post-haste.
