checkbox in protected document

I want to create a forms template (or document) that includes the following
features:

* User does NOT have to enable a macro to use the form.
* Clickable check box
* Editable text field
* User can copy and paste a SELECTED section of a completed editable text
field and paste it to another text field (for example, only the second line
of a three-line block of text).

If I use the protect document feature to allow for editable fields, the
editable fields work nicely, but the checkboxes don't work.

If I use the Forms toolbar to add a text field, the checkboxes work nicely,
but the user cannot select only a small portion of the completed text field.
(Word forces you to highlight from the cursor to either the beginning or the
end of the text field, preventing the user from selecting a small portion of
text in the middle of the text field.)

Is there a way to get all of the features above listed? Do I need to create
a template? Or will a doc suffice?

Thanks in advance,

How do I protect only certain sections?

The Help files explain how to allow editting of certain sections in a
protected document, but I do not find where it explains how to protect only
certain place (for example, certain cells of a table).

In Word versions through Word 2002, when you use Tools | Protect document,
if your document contains more than one section, you'll get a dialog
allowing you to select which sections to protect. In Word 2003, you get a
task pane with similar features.

You can only protect sections, not table cells. The entire table needs to be
in a single section, protected or not.
