An outfit calling itself OEM Store has contacted me and
is offering microsoft software at a 75% discount from
retail. They work through a link called CD Cheap they say
they ship out of eastern Europe are they ligit and do
they have microsoft blessing.

Eastern Europe? One of two scenarios will happen:
1. You send off your money and get nothing.
2. You get a pirate copy - possibly loaded with a virus.

Eastern Europe is the former USSR. It's full of confidence tricksters and
software pirates. Worst of all, in May, all their villains will be heading
for London.

Ive seen this website. I would never give them my Visa number. I also
would never purchase anything from them.

You know the old saw: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is"
Even it they do deliver on the merchandise, I wouldn't trust it to be
genuine Microsoft products

Zebedee;

I'm curious. What's happening in London in May?
Russian Mafiya convention?

Greetings --

Definitely a scam. Read the "FAQ." Full OEM CDs that are full
retail versions that are legal as backup media? Shipped from eastern
Europe? All CDs shipped with the serial number included in a text
file? Definitely not legitimate CDs.

Hey, Jim. We don't want him here on The Dark Side either. And from his
posts, he doesn't know Linux very well to boot!

A cheap software offer can be expensive, because you have a
steep learning curve.

Linux isn't bad, just different. But a newsgroup isn't the
place to advertise your own product as though you are
passing along "news."
