Chart Object Animation

I am trying to animate a bar chart that was copied over from Excel. I want
each of the data series to appear seperately on a mouse click. How do I do
this? I looked up help and it doesn't help me. The way it does it causes the
entire chart to come in at the same time. I want each of the bars to come in
on my command. Please Help.

Gail,

Your best bet is to get the data from excel and create a "graph/chart" in
powerpoint using the in-built chart facility. That way you can set the chart
to build up by series.

If you really must use your excel graph, then you will have to "ungroup" it.
Which can be a long job!

instructions there should work for both Excel graphs and for PPT graphs.
That should at least get you started.

Excel charts could not be animated in PPT 97.

How do you set the chart to build up by series? In PowerPoint, does the

Okay.

Add an animatin to your chart -- right-click, choose Custom Animation, then
choose Add Effect/Entrance and select an effect.

Then in the custom animation task pane, double-click the chart animation in
the list of animations. On the Chart tab, choose "by series" or "by
category" or whatever in the "group by" drop down. If only "as one object"
is available, try changing your animation to something simple like a wipe or
a fade. Which "group by" options are available is determined by a
combination of the type of chart and the actual animation you choose.
