Characters in frontpage

Whenever I enter a particular character such as £, apostrophe, hyphen and
copright symbol, and save the page, when I re-open FrontPage has added
spurious text before the character. When I try to remove it, it just replaces
it again. For the copyright symbol I have tried changing it to &copy but it
changes it back to the symbol and re-enters the spurious code again. This
spurious code appears in design mode and when previewing it in a browser. For
the £ symbol this appears ok in design mode, but in a browser (IE7) it shows
as a square box!

Any suggestions! FrontPage 2003.

Try this:

for the £ use: hold down the alt key and type in 0167
for the apostrophe: hold down the alt key and type in 0146
for the hyphen: hold down the alt key and type in 045
for the copyright: hold down the alt key and type in 0169
