Characters change even with embedded fonts - help!

I have created a number of powerpoint presentations that can be accessed via
the web. To keep all characters in place I've embedded the fonts when saving
the file. The problem is when the files are opened on computers in other
countries (Germany in particular) the proper fonts are not displayed. I'm
using Office 2003 and all fonts I want to embed are True Type Fonts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
