chaos with EXPLORER.EXE

i just upgraded from win98SE, to winXP. however with
windowsXP it keeps saying that explorer.exe needs to
restart, and my desktop reloads. It does this constantly.
I dont think its a problem with windows, because it also
would do this when i downloaded IE 6.0, with win98. So i
deleted IE 6.0 and it was fine. But now i cant get rid of
IE6.0 cuz it comes with winXP...please help?
 
If you had the prob in win98 then xp won't fix the prob. Installing an os as
an upgrade install to a os that already has problems is not a good idea. You
may be at the format and clean install point. This will get xp running good.

Sure it is. Explorer.exe _is_ your desktop among other things.
