recently installed xp pro sp2. cant update nolonger due to product jey
failed validation.

how can you change this?

i found one thing which told me to edit in regedit (oebc or something
similar) underWPAEvents, but I didnt find it there. Only : default reg_sz
value not set.

anyway, can someone help me to change this?

Open Internet explorer, tools, internet options, click on the programs tab,
then click on "manage add-ons", look for, and if found, disable, "Windows
genuine advantage"

You need to obtain a valid key. Once you have a valid key you can change it
with any of many programs available to do this. I use keyfinder.exe. You
need the unsupported beta version to change keys. You can search Google for
it. This only works if the new key is the same version as your installed
product e.g. Retail or OEM or Volume License. If you are also changing
versions e.g. VL to OEM then you will have to perform a repair install,
sometimes called an "in place upgrade". Again Google will find many good
sites explaining this procedure.
