Changing User name

Maggie

I just installed w2k on a new computer. I thought this computer was going
to
be for one employee but it turns out is it for a different one. I also had
to change
the name of the computer for reasons that it was a conflict with another
computer
that I didn't know about on the network.

I changed the name of the computer and also the user, BUT when I go to
Documents and Settings, I see that the folder name for this computer is
still the
old computer name. I try to change it but can't. This will cause confusion
down
the road.

Can anyone tell me how to make the computer name change and user name change
truly complete?? I want the list of users in Documents and Settings to
reflect the
current name and not the old.

Thanks much. (I hope I explained this correctly in my frustration.)

It has been a very long tiring day but I think I did that this morning.
But I don't think it worked. I will have to check on Monday and
let you know.
Will that get rid of that user folder from C:\Documents and Settings??
Thanks so much Dave.

Yes it should, assuming the profile hasn't been orphaned from the pc name
change.
